The Top 5 MVP Super Car Of The Culture For 2018. 🏆🏎🏁
Now I know a lot of people at this point are like WTF. In what world is a Bugatti not number one on a super car list like this, I mean it is the fastest car in the world, one of the most powerful and most expensive for crying out loud.
However this list isn’t about sheer out right speed figures or money but rather the impact they had on the petrol head culture as a whole. And even though it set the world record for fastest accelerating to 400km/h, that record would later be broken by the number 4 car on the list.
Koenigsegg Agera RS
This little known Swedish supercar company has been a sore thorn in the side of Bugatti because every time bugatti takes a stab at setting world land speed records, Koenigsegg is always right there ready to break what ever record Bugatti sets.
For example when the Veyron came out nearly 10 years ago, koenigsegg launched their ccx which was almost as fast, then they released the Agera which blew the Veyrons records out the water. When bugatti released their new flagship model the Chiron it set 4 new world records for speed only to have all 4 shattered about a week later by the new koenigsegg Agera RS which currently holds the record for fastest car in the world at 458km/h, the fastest 0-400-0 time of 33 seconds, fastest production car over a mile, and fastest car on a public highway.
Now The Agera gets a one up on the list because it is what you would call an under dog taking on the biggest dog in yard and beating it at its own game.
Tesla Model S P100 D.
Now off the Bat we know that the Tesla model S is not a super car or a sports car in anyway. As a matter of fact it’s more of a good old family sized saloon which just happens to have the capability of destroying 90% of all super cars from traffic light to traffic light.
The Tesla comes in at number 3 because it has shown itself to be quite the triple threat in that, one has the comfort and qualities of a family car, the speed of a super car, and the benefit of not having to pay for petrol ever again.
Mercedes AMG – GTR.
Coming in at number 2 we have Mercedes AMG’s latest and most successful attempt at creating a Porsche 911 GT3 killer, The AMG - GTR. Now if you had told anyone 5 -10 years ago that Mercedes would be making cars that could give the likes of Porsche and Ferrari a run for their money, you would probably be laughed out what ever room you’re in because Mercedes has always been the classic & classy gentleman’s limo, not a boy racer.
However since their recent domination in F1, not only have Mercedes found their inner boy racer, their letting him run the show and the results speak for themselves. 577 HP, 0-100 in 2.9 seconds and not to mention that the AMG GTR is now currently the fastest rear wheel drive sports car on the petrol-heads proving ground the Nurburgring with a time of 7:10 seconds.
Lamborghini Huracan Performante.
The MVP for the best sports car in the culture has to go to the new performance benchmark/yardstick, the Lamborghini Performante. Not only is the lambo the king of the nurburgring with an unreal time of 6:52, it has managed to step out from the supercar shadows of Ferrari and Porsche.
The reason the Lambo is the MVP of the year is simply because by all measures Lamborghini has never really been much competition for the likes of Ferrari and Porsche. I mean sure they have roughly the same top speeds and to my eyes lambo’s have always looked better but they’ve always been ferrari’s number 3 and Porsches number 2 until now. Lamborghini’s new focus on performance has catapulted it all the way to number 1 giving its bitter rivals bloody noses and bruised egos on the way.
And I don’t know about you but being an under dog and taking the fight to the biggest dogs on the block and actually WINNING is always worthy of being the most valuable player in the game.
