The marijuana revolution is coming and there is nothing anyone can do about it. According to new laws in effect from July 1, passengers are now allowed to bring recreational marijuana onto a flight, with exceptions of course. The new regulation is confined within the boundaries of Oregon only; the flight departure and arrival must remain in the state. Once the traveler is found with the drug, TSA will notify the local police and check that the weight is up to or under an ounce, the carrier is over the legal age of 21 to possess, and that the boarding pass proves in-state travel – interstate flights remain a federal crime for now, even to neighboring Washington where recreational weed has been legalized. Hopefully South Africa and other African countries will begin opening up to the idea of legalizing and regulating the use of marijuana and get a piece of the billion dollar industry.
